Exercise Tips
Exercise Tip of the Week for April 12th 2009
From an ex-personal trainer and currently “retired” bodybuilder. Hopefully that will give me a pinch of credibility ha.
I remember back in my gym days, all the Fat and Out of shape people lying on the ground doing bunches of crunches, situps, basically you name it to try and tone up their midsection. Well that’s a LOAD of crap (sorry to burst your bubble). Crunches, situps, etc. will have ZERO impact on that spare tire you got hanging round your waist. Your time is going to be much better spent focusing on your Diet and Cardiovascular exercise. Fat is lost by consuming fewer calories each day than the total amount you manage to burn off in any given day.
So my tip is, get off the damn floor. Stop doing crunches and head over to the Bike or Treadmill and get started on some High Intensity Interval Cardio (medium pace for 30-45 seconds, followed by an all out pace for 15-25 seconds, then repeat). Start at 5 or 10 minutes whatever you can handle and shoot for twice per week. Outside of the gym, make sure you get it done right there as well. The kitchen is just as important as the actual gym.
Now get outta here and get to work!
